One of the best-known house of Colmar is the Maison des Têtes (the House of Heads) in The Rue des Têtes (Heads Street).
The house was built in 1609 by Burger.
This house is decorated with statuettes and 111 little human heads, and has one of the most remarkable oriel-windows in Colmar.
The gable is topped by a pewter statue of a cooper, by Auguste Bartholdi.
Another best-known house : the 'Maison Pfister'.
It is considered one of Colmar’s architectural landmarks.
This building is particularly noteworthy for its painted murals, which combine biblical themes with allegorical figures and portraits of emperors. These murals illustrate the tastes of the bourgeoisie in the 16th century.
A milliner by the name of Scherer from Besançon had this house built in 1537.
